Photography Training

In recent recession-hit years the number of photography training courses on offer has increased significantly, without doubt some courses are being run by individuals with minimal professional knowledge and experience.

So whether you simply want to get more out of your mobile phone photos or are considering a career change and earn money with your camera, make sure that the advice you are getting and paying for, is sound, and based on serious and relevant professional experience.

Light-School -,Is the one-to-one photography training-wing of Inside Out Photography. Bernard O’Sullivan ABIPP, has been a full-time professional photographer for over forty-four years, specialising in commercial, architectural, product and industrial photography, winning over fifty-five major professional photography awards plus 50 smaller awards.

Bernard was chairman of the BIPP North West region between 2010-2013, and is listed in ‘Debrettes People of Today’

Photography training - subjects covered

A preliminary subject list of topics covered is given below. However if you have a particular request, I will do my best to accommodate it.

Photoshop training (intermediate to advanced)

Product photography (lighting & choosing backgrounds)

Macro photography (close-up photography)

Architectural photography (lighting interiors inc' Light-painting)

Architectural photography (exteriors and night-shots)

Location portrait lighting (using off-camera battery-flash outside in daylight)

One-to-one photography training

At the moment we are mainly concentrating on one-one tuition courses on a delegate’s chosen photography specialty. Training days will be arranged at a mutually convenient time and location..

All delegates will receive bespoke one-to-one tuition from Bernard O’Sullivan ABIPP personally.

Practical ‘shooting’ courses; The shooting master class typically includes advice on equipment/accessory selection, setting up your DLSR to get the highest image quality from your existing equipment (If required) and shooting in RAW.

This is followed by camera composition, lighting techniques, and general tips. If required we can allocate some time to short tutorial on basic post-production techniques including essential RAW image-processing, use of layers to help you get the most out of your new-found skills!

NB: The course outlined above is an example, ultimately you the delegate can choose what areas you prefer to 'focus on' whilst skipping over other subjects as required.

Software based courses; these will delve much deeper into advanced image processing. Subjects covered will include, RAW image-processing, using layers to produce composite montages, advanced image enhancement, image sharpening, cutting out and image retouching!

Courses will run from approximately*(2) 10am - 4pm and are being offered for £290.00 including VAT*(1) (3) (4). To book contact me!

*(2) - Course timings may possibly be shortened by, non-standard extended travelling periods, working through lunch upon request, or if it is mutually agreed that the chosen subject has been sufficiently covered.

Photography training for photographic societies

These courses are designed with photographic societies in mind! Courses would typically take place at the clubs premises, and last for the duration of a clubs standard meeting. Prices for these courses are bespoke and depend on booking numbers, the more delegates the cheaper per-head! For more details contact me!

Training Terms and Conditions

*(1) - An additional travelling expenses fee, may be required for venues outside of the standard 15 mile radius and travelling period.
*(2) - Course timings are approximate, and may possibly be shortened by, non-standard extended travelling periods, working through lunch upon request, or if it is mutually agreed that the chosen subject has been sufficiently covered.
*(3) - All course fees are required to be paid (allowing time for funds to be cleared) a minimum of 7 days in advance of the training date.
*(4) - On rare occasions, reasonable additional expenses such as parking fees at delegate’s chosen location may be requested. Such additional expenses will be mutually agreed in advance, and are required to be reimbursed separately to the invoice on the day of training in cash.
