Supporting The Community

Bernard O’Sullivan founder of Inside Out Photography (IOP) personally believes that helping others, even in small ways forges a stronger community, with the added benefit of making us all feel better as individuals!

Bernard is happy to provided support local community non-profit groups by either providing photography, website design or lectures pro bono, and supporting fellow professionals through one-to-one mentoring or by promoting professional photography in the North-West.


Currently Supported

Chatsworth Players - Since 2018: Providing pro bono photography to promote Chatsworth Players and its productions.

The images you see below are from a variety of productions including, Midsummer Nights Dream, Into The Woods, Lettuce and Lovage, The Dresser, Heroes, Charlies Aunt, a Christmas Carol, and Dandy Dick.




St John The Baptist Church Tideswell - Since 2017: By providing pro bono photography of medieval carvings, fantastic tombs, wonderful windows, and brass plates in the magnificent medieval building, (Also known as the Cathedral of the Peak). Images are then used by FoSJ for publicity & tourism material to help raise funds to preserve this important thirteenth century building. IOP also cover any fund raising activity to support the restoration of this beautiful and costly to maintain building

Tideswell Wakes Committee - Since 2014: Wakes-Week is a Derbyshire tradition that dates back to the 1600s and was re-introduced in Tideswell after World War Two in 1946. Wakes week is a series of fun events and village decorations culminating in 'Big Saturday Carnival'. As well as the main carnival events include, Inter-Inns race, Well-Dressing, House decorations, Rock-n-Bowl, and even a Battle of Britain RAF, impressive. flyover These events organised by the Wakes committee raise funds which are distributed to various groups and associations in the village. More info.

IOP provide pro bono photography of all events, these images are used to promote future Wakes events. In addition people can buy prints showing the events and 65% of profit from print sales is also donated to Wakes. The images below are taken from Wakes events since 2014.




Tideswell And District Community Association (TDCA) - Since 2014: The TDCA are a charity that organises and funds events to promote and fund local Tideswell groups and associations through grants.

Bernard is current Chairperson of the
TDCA.




Tideswell Food Festival:
Tideswell has its first food festival in 2011 typically held on the last Saturday in April. This surprisingly well supported event has grown year on year. The images below are from festivals held since 2014. More info.

IOP have been recording this fantastic event since 2014, images are used for publicity for the following year.




Tideswell photos website - Since 2014: Supporting, creating and funding, a village image library to support all Tideswell not-for-profit groups with publicity and raise funds by the sale of prints through the site. Activities and groups supported include.
Tideswell Arts festival, Tideswell Food festival, Wakes week, The Hidden Gems of St John.


Camera Associations/Clubs - Since 1992: Bernard has been visiting camera clubs and other associations to lecture about techniques and pass on professional tips etc, all on a travelling expenses only basis.


The Village Voice - Since 2017: community news magazine with general hands-on tasks and pro bono photography.

Historically Supported


Wai Yin: Wai-Yin is a Manchester based charity offering a wide range of support services primarily to the Chinese community in and around Manchester.

IOP Supported the charity delivering a major two-week photography project pro bono, (2012).

Daisy Dignity is a charity that aims to promote dignity, and respect into the heart of UK care homes through training workshops, an awards scheme to recognise individual achievements in care. It is supported by 'Dignity Champions' including serving NHS staff. IOP provide photography of key events such as annual awards. Our support came to and end when COVID suspended the charities
activities

BIPP North West region: Supporting and promoting, fellow professionals in the North West, as a committee member of the, BIPP North West region since 2006, being chairman of the region between 2010 - 2013, and mentoring fellow photographers.

Supporting student photographers by offering work experience, imparting professional advice and giving them the opportunity to ‘shadow me’ on interesting shoots.
